Katie Holmes is reportedly undergoing Scientology 'auditing' in preparation to have another baby. Scientology auditing is used to restore self confidence, happiness and spiritual freedom and involves answering questions or following directions with the aim of being freed from unwanted barriers that inhibit natural ability.

According to a website run by the Church of Scientology, followers believe the "health and the sanity of the child begin long before birth”.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "This is exactly what happened just before she got pregnant with Suri. Tom has made no secret of the fact that he would like another baby."

Before Suri was born Scientologists, John Travolta and Kelly Preston recommended that Katie Holmes try for an L. Ron Hubbard-recommended "silent birth", even though it didn't work out for Preston in delivering Ella Blue. Preston begged to go to the hospital for an epidural. It was however to late for that and she delivered her daughter without pain killers.

The silent-birth doctrine holds that children should be delivered in an atmosphere of total quiet, without any groans, screams, or sounds of pain from the mother, or even the audible exchange of information among hospital personnel.

In his book Preventive Dianetics, Hubbard elaborates on the goal of this practice: After a delivery the baby should "be wrapped somewhat tightly in a warm blanket, very soft, and then left alone for a day or so."

This is not the first time Katie has undergone special treatment at a Scientology centre.

Katie was secluded for three days at Gold Base, the remote, super secret Scientology compound in Hemet, Calif., where she was put through a demanding schedule. "It included various tests, confession sessions, tons of reading and physically challenging purification processes," a Scientology insider revealed.

Katie Holmes also underwent a 'Scientology Sparkle' makeover. The makeover was Tom and Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige's idea. After Katie followed the Purification Rundown - an extreme detox where she had high doses of vitamins (vitamin bombs) and spent five hours a day in a sauna - doctors and homeopaths were called in to maintain her looks and ensure her skin would not break out, a process dubbed the 'Scientology Sparkle'.

Rumor has it that her hands turned purple as a result of this ritual called “purification rundown” or Purif. Purple hands are minor, when you consider the other possible side effects of purification rundown... liver damage, hair loss, brain swelling, nausea, fatal heart and respiratory failure, peptic ulcers, and skin rashes.

Tom Cruise insists that auditing and purification practices are incredibly beneficial to Scientologists at all levels."

Scientology is messed up in my opinion...poor Katie Holmes.
